The New Bike

So this is the new bike to replace the one that fell off the car :) This one is 16" so bigger but really doesn't seem too big at all, so Mitchell's obviously grown a fair bit since his birthday, although #4 is coming up relatively soon so shouldn't be surprised I guess. We've been for a couple of rides to the local playground (very local, only a few houses away) and there's a path there so he's had a good chance to ride around and around. Soon we'll have to go on a proper ride and give it a really good run.

So Michael went back to work this week and it seems that he's settling in nicely. He has staff under him for the first time so that's a bit different, but I think he's overall pretty happy about his job here so far. He's also ridden to work and back a couple of days these week which has certainly impressed me. He'll be fit in no time if he can keep that up as it's a good 17 km ride each way.

Mitchell and I have had a fairly busy week organising bits and pieces including picking up the bike and things for the dog. Massie is settling in nicely, normal "teething" issues as to be expected but I think he'll fit into our little family quite well.

Next week we enrol Mitchell in preschool and we have decided to send him to the school that is slightly further away (but still probably walking distance at a push so not that far) as we get to know the area a little better. We had kind of leant towards it anyway based on gut feel but then talked to a lady at the pool and she raved about the school and then when I emailed them during the week, was pretty impressed to get a phone call back from the principal within the hour. Having a look at their website was also pretty impressed with philosophies and things. Over here the preschools are all attached to primary schools so he will go there this year and then just move over to the building next door for Transition next year. He's a bit disappointed that he doesn't wear "school clothes" this year but otherwise is very excited. We've never said anything about "being good" or "working hard" or "doing good" but yesterday he said to me, "I'm going to do really good at preschool Mum" out of the blue, so pretty convinced he's looking forward to it. He will go Mon - Thurs from 11:45 - 2:45, beginning on 31/1.

We went to story time at the library on Wednesday which was a lot of fun too although Mitchell was disappointed that they didn't do dancing as it was advertised on their web site and he was looking forward to it. He did however, really enjoy some drawing at the beginning and making bookmarks at the end. He actually found the story telling itself a little boring, tbh I don't think the lady put too much thought into the books she was reading and she certainly didn't make them exciting as she read them, but overall was a fun morning and Mitchell's keen to go back next week so that's all good.
